Heaton House Farm Wedding

As soon as I met up with Charlotte and Martin I knew that we would get on amazingly. They were such a cool couple and so easy to work with (plus Martin has an amazing beard!). On their pre-wedding shoot in Manchester we ended up in sipping whiskey and chatting in The Whiskey Jar. My favourite way to end a shoot! Here are Charlotte and Martin with some words about their wedding:
How did you both meet?
We have known each other for years, our parents have been friends for a long time as well.
What was the proposal like?
Romantic but also a little awkward. We were in New York, having a walk around Central Park. All I was doing was complaining about how hot I was and that my feet hurt from walking around all the time. We sat on a nice bench for a rest, Martin said he finally plucked up the courage to propose and I decided it was time to move on to another spot of the park. This happened about 3 more times but then he finally managed to get the words out.
How did you find wedding planning?
I LOVED planning the wedding, I even missed it for a while after the big day! If could give any tips to other brides it would be… don’t flap about the small things – because on the day, you will be far too busy to notice anyway and by that point you can’t change anything. Guests don’t notice the things you think they will!
Enjoy your time getting ready and sit back to take everything in. It will be a bit mental with everyone running around but fun all the same.
Why did you choose Heaton House Farm as your wedding venue?
We both just knew Heaton House was right for us as soon as we started walking around. Once we saw how attentive and organised the staff were too, we couldn’t go anywhere else.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
That’s a tough one, although it should be the ceremony (😉) I’d have to say our first dance. Seeing everyone pile onto the dance floor with us when we gave the nod and just seeing smiles everywhere was amazing!
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
We chose the You and Me song by the Wannadies. It didn’t have any sentiment behind it, we just happened to be on a night out, it came on and we danced like complete nutters. We decided we wanted something more upbeat and fun that meant our guests could join in.
If you are thinking of picking Kyle to photograph your wedding, think no more and get him booked. We couldn’t recommend him enough. He went above and beyond to capture every moment for us – I’m sure he was actually in two places at once when I look back at the photos?!
