Great John Street Hotel Wedding Photography
In June I was lucky enough to shoot the wedding of two awesome friends of mine, Laura and Chris at Great John Street Hotel in Manchester. It was the first wedding that I had shot at Great John Street and I have to say, it was an amazing venue. Before it was turned into a wedding venue, Great John Street Hotel was a school and still has the rooftop playground and classrooms.
I met Chris at home while the boys got ready and then went with them to Spinningfields for a couple of beers to settle the nerves. Not that Chris needed it 🙂
The met up with Laura and the bridesmaids in one of the awesome suites at the hotel.
The ceremony was conducted by the fantastic, Stephen Poole and the day featured the amazing musical talents of Paul Hand, AKA Guitarthur and an awesome, very special song for Laura and Chris by one of Laura’s bridesmaids, Sam.
But enough from me, here are Laura and Chris with some words about their day:
How did you both meet?
We originally went to the same primary school, but we met as adults in the pub.
What was the proposal like?
Chris had taken be to Budapest for my 29+1 birthday and he had been acting a bit strange. We were stood on the steps on St Stephen’s Cathedral when he proposed. I thought he was winding me up – he wasn’t!!
How did you find wedding planning? Do you have any tips for other brides?
Wedding planning was easy, although the guest list and picking a dress took up most of the time. My tips – don’t worry, be happy!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
We can’t possibly chose a favourite part. Obviously sealing the deal was pretty awesome, but having all our nearest and dearest together for one day was wonderful!
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
We chose “The One” by Kodaline. I think it summed up how we feel pretty much spot on. In fact, I heard it on the radio this week and it just makes me smile.
Which is your favourite wedding photograph?
We can’t pick up a favourite picture because they are all great!
