I have had a few weddings at Sandhole Oak Barn over the years and have loved every one. Jess and John’s wedding was no different. It was a beautiful summers day with some outstanding light. Here are Jess and John to chat about their wedding:
How did you both meet?
We met at Jess’ cousin’s 21st birthday party but prior to this John had clocked Jess on a night out in our home town
What was the proposal like?
It was a few days after Christmas at our flat. John had hidden the ring inside a Christmas cracker, but he’d forgotten to put the joke back in. After pulling the cracker, and with the hat on her head, Jess was pre-occupied with the fact there was no joke and spent ages looking for it before realising the cracker gift was actually an engagement ring!
How did you find wedding planning?
Although it was stressful at times it was really fun and exciting. As the bride my advice would be not to get too bogged down in all the little details as it probably doesn’t mean as much to your guests as you think it does when planning and on the day to take your time to take everything in as it goes by so fast!
Why did you choose Sandhole Oak Barn as your wedding venue?
We absolutely loved the fact that Sandhole Oak Barn was surrounded by nature and so picturesque. We wanted a barn wedding from the start and just fell in love with it as soon as we saw it!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Apart from the ceremony, our favourite part was when we were sat having our wedding breakfast and looking around the room at all of our guests. We couldn’t believe that everything had come together so perfectly and everyone was here for us for our special day.
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
We had ‘Get Lucky’ by Mark Knopfler. It’s a song that we dance together to at home when we are being silly together which has made it a special song for us.
We absolutely love looking back on our wedding day – it was such a happy and emotional day and was summery and colourful just as we’d hoped it to be. It was so lovely to have all of our family and friends celebrating with us. We can’t thank you enough Kyle for capturing it so beautifully and giving us these photos to cherish forever!
