Great John Street Hotel Wedding Photographer
It was fantastic to be back at Great John Street Hotel to shoot Rowan and Jamie’s amazing wedding. It is fast becoming one of my favourite venues with it’s seriously cool decor and rooftop terrace and it’s city centre location. Thank you to all of the staff for your help on the day.
After their Formby Point pre-wedding shoot, I knew Rowan and Jamie’s wedding would was an awesome one. It certainly was a star studded affair from start to finish with award winning magic from Sam ‘fastest hands in the land’ Fitton, live acoustic music from Liam McClair (none other than Brian McClair’s son), and DJ sets from the Funkedemia DJ’s and the legend that is, Clint Boon (Booooooon Army!) of Inspiral Carpets and XFM.
Here are Rowan and Jamie with some words about their wedding day:
How did you both meet?
We met at the first Ramsbottom Festival in 2011. Jamie was the co-founder and Rowan was working as part of the event management team. Although we didn’t hit it off straight away.
What was the proposal like?
Jamie proposed in a restaurant called Sa Capella which is an old chapel in Ibiza, very romantic.
How did you find wedding planning? Do you have any tips for other brides?
It was great, we really enjoyed it, although event management is what we both do. Make lists and spreadsheets, and get friends and family to help wherever possible.
Why did you choose Great John Street Hotel as your wedding venue?
We were split between two venues, but this one nudged ahead partly because of its great location, but mainly because of its amazing roof terrace.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The obvious answer is all of it, but its true. That, and spending the day with our best friends and family. Oh and the BBQ! (I can confirm that the BBQ was indeed awesome)
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
Sister Sledge – Thinking of You. Jamie used to message Rowan in our early years when he played it at gigs.
Supplier Shout Outs
Wedding dress designer – Maria Morris Couture
Magician – Sam Fitton
Musician – Liam McClair
DJ – Clint Boon
Cheese Cake – The Cheese Hamlet
Humanist Celebrant – Shirley George (We opted for a humanist wedding ceremony, which we wrote ourselves along with our celebrant, Shirley, and we both loved it. It was so personal and romantic.)
– And amazing family and friends (Rowan’s Mum, Christine & Mal) for the decorations, flowers and cakes.
Kyle was fantastic to work with, and so friendly! It was really important to us not to miss too much of the party and he made sure that he planned the shots in advance so we could sneak out for no more than a couple of minutes at a time, and still get all the amazing photos we wanted. We would highly recommend him to anyone! [Aw, thank you so much you absolute dudes!]
