I first met Abi + Jonny at Sian and Kev’s wedding a few years ago where Abi was playing the piano absolutely beautifully at their ceremony and Jonny was being employed as Abi’s glamorous page turner.
The next time we met up properly for a chat my wife had just gone into labour! Great timing but Abi and Jonny were amazing and still booked me. I’m so glad they did because one year later I got to shoot their amazing wedding at The Belle Époque in Knutsford. It was an a seriously cool and emotional day and I loved every minute of photographing it.
The Belle Époque is such a brilliant venue and John and the staff were fantastic. It was so great to shoot there and work with some absolute stars of the wedding industry.
Here are Abi and Jonny with a few words about their wedding at The Belle Époque, Knutsford:
How did you both meet?
Bit of a strange one really but Jonny and I had actually ‘known’ each other since school. I had been friends with Jonnys twin sister and best friend, even going to his 18th birthday party but our paths didn’t cross as more than just acquaintances until November 2012 when we were both out in our local town…from that day forward we’ve never been apart.
What was the proposal like?
Very Jonny!! We had talked about getting married for several years but in true Jonny style the day he actually bought the ring was the day he asked my dad for my hand in marriage and proposed – all in one day!! The proposal itself was perfect, it was a sunny Monday evening and Jonny suggested a walk up mow cop to see the views, he had prepared dinner for when I got home (very out of character haha) but I thought nothing more. When we got to the top before I knew it he was down on one knee and he had champagne and flowers waiting for us in the car.
How did you find wedding planning?
Honestly….loved every minute of it. Jonny wanted to be involved throughout which was really nice as we made it all about what we wanted and not just me as the bride We made lots of bits ourselves which kept us busy on the lead up and tried to enjoy it as much as possible. Advice for other couples…don’t rush into making any decisions, take your time and although it may appear stressful at times try to enjoy it as when it’s all over you’ll miss the planning.
Why did you choose The Belle Époque as your wedding venue?
We came across our venue by chance when we were in knutsford. We saw this quirky castle like building in the centre of the town and thought it looked interesting, we had a look through the window and the owner invited us in for a quick tour. We loved that it was so different from other venues we had seen, with an Art Deco boutique style, a great food reputation, an intimate feel whilst grand all at the same time, but also a place where you could throw a great party which was an important factor for the both of us. To be honest after this we saw one other venue but nothing compared and our decision was made!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
All of it!! But marring the love of your life whilst having all of the people you love and care about around you is rather special and seeing them having a great time too – you can’t beat that!
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
At Last – Etta James – Why? Because it somehow is just our song, the words mean a lot and we love a bit of old school music!
Who were your favourite wedding suppliers?
Dress – Brides of Chester (designer -Justin Alexander) I originally ordered a different dress, changed my mind and they were great.
Bridesmaid dresses – TFNC from ASOS
Suits – Whitfield and Ward – they were amazing and just got exactly what Jonny wanted straight away.
DJ – the award winning Andy Murphy who supplied up lighting, dance floor, sax player and of course endless tunes that kept the dance floor full all night.
Sands – Videographer who did a fantastic same day edit which wowed all of our guests – it’s just not somthing you expect to see!
Flowers on the Cobbles – Helen and the team made me dreams come true, she just got what we wanted from a few chats and delivered even better than we could ever have imagined.
Amy Fields – Violinist
Aisling Murray (my friend) – singer who made our ceremony feel so romantic.
Car – Gardenia Cars – just beautiful!
Bridal hair and make up – Jessica Goodall
Bridesmaids make up – HoneyBlush
Bridesmaids hair – Vicky M Hair
Is there anything else you would like to add about your wedding?
Kyle – If your looking for a relaxed photographer who captures the raw emotion of a wedding day and looking for photos which tell even those that weren’t there the story of your day then he’s your guy! So talented!
