Michelle and Matthew’s wedding at The Inn At Whitewell was incredible. Not only did we have absolutely stunning weather and light but the venue and staff were amazing. What made their wedding even better was that Michelle is my wife’s cousin so I got to hang around with the family all day as well as have a few cheeky ales with them. I also got to hear my wife (the incredible Kirsty Rogers Wedding Singer) serenading Michelle and Matthew’s guests during the ceremony.
Here is Michelle with a few words about her amazing wedding to Matthew at The Inn At Whitewell:
How did you both meet?
We both went to the same secondary school but didn’t talk to each other until sixth form. We both got extremely drunk at Matt’s rugby club and started talking later at a friends house party while we were all talking he noticed I was cold and offered me his jumper and we swapped numbers and that’s how it all started really.
What was the proposal like?
I was totally expecting the proposal, although I had nagged him just a little as we had been together nearly 9 years and had our three girls by then! It was christmas morning and we had all spend all our presents until Matt pointed out I had one present left to open and it was on the tree. I couldn’t see a thing… just staring at the tree clueless, fairly lights flashing at me! I just remember noticing Matt getting quite anxious. I then noticed a ring placed over one of the fairy lights and straight away he was down on one knee ! We don’t remember exactly what he said as it was a blur for me and Matt was soo nervous he just seemed to blurt out anything haha.
How did you find wedding planning?
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED wedding planning and even felt completely lost after the wedding was over. Matt was all about spread sheets!!!! Budgeting, budgeting, budgeting is all I heard from him. Matt found the wedding venue and believed that was enough from him. We booked our wedding just over two years in advance so it gave us time to search for our wedding suppliers. The only tip I would give to anyone getting married is don’t worry if anything goes wrong on the day because no-one else will notice and your both that caught up in the day you probably won’t either.
Why did you choose your wedding venue?
We always knew we would have our church services at Matthews family church as we have a good relationship with the Priest. He even came to the venue and enjoyed the evening with us.For after the church service we looked at two other venues before Matt was told about the Inn at Whitewall. We always said we wanted to get married at a venue that we could always go back to on special occasions. As soon as we looked into the marquee I knew it was prefect. The Wedding Team were honestly Amazing! To the point we had no stress on the day and even presented Matt with his favourite Ale that they didn’t even hold at the venue and Matt had only mentioned in a brief conversation. Everyone still to this day mentioned how amazing the venue and the surroundings were. We even stayed at the Piggeries for a few extra days with some of our family members and it just made it prefect.
What was your favourite part of the day?
I think we would both have to say our first dance when our children joined us on the dance floor. Also us all giggling trying to get our photo on the stepping stones.
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
It took us a while to choose our first dance. We both love our music and have too many songs that hold a meaning to us for all different reasons. So we decided to sit down one night have a few wines and danced in the living room until we agreed on the song. In the end we both agreed on The Beatles – Something.
