Owen House Barn Wedding Photography
Katie and Nick’s wedding at Owen House Barn was the first time I had photographed there. What a venue! The staff were amazing and there were so many places to get cool shots. Add to that the fact that Katie and Nick are a really cool couple and you have all the makings of an awesome wedding. Here is Katie with a few words about her Owen House Barn wedding to Nick:
How did you both meet?
We were actually set up by a mutual friend and after a month of txting while Nick organised his move to Manchester we finally met in the Met over 7 years ago now. The rest is history…
What was the proposal like?
Christmas Eve- we were walking our dog in some gorgeous forests in the North East and whilst I was admiring the view Nick got down on one knee behind me. It was perfect and the fact that the dog was with us made it even more special.
How did you find wedding planning?
Planning was fairly easy. Once we found the venue and we knew our budget (the hardest part) then its just decision making and availability. Pintrest is a brides best friend!
Why did you choose Owen House Barn as your wedding venue?
We chose Owen House Wedding Barn partly because we wanted a barn venue in the NW and it was our favourite of all that we looked at within the year of getting engaged. But from the start the owners, Vanessa and Dan, were amazing. They had such vision and plans for Owen House that was exciting and it came across as a real family business. Their classy and understated style fitted with what we wanted and the fact that there was accommodation on site was a major bonus.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
So many- obviously the church and seeing each other for the first time and saying ‘I Do’. But also loved arriving at the barn and seeing it all done up and just circulating through the room seeing everyone.
What song did you have for your first dance and why did you choose it?
The John Mayer version of Beyonce’s XO. I’m a big John Mayer fan and it was also playing in the wedding dress shop when I chose my dress.
Katie and Nick’s amazing wedding suppliers
Red Floral Architecture for all the barn decorations. Whilst expensive they were totally worth it. OHWB use them at all their open days so it was hard to unsee it once we’d been to one and knew how amazing the barn could look.
Vanilla In All Seasons Catering. Whilst we only had a choice of 2 caterers at the barn they were simply amazing. They came to our house to help plan our menu, they had so many options and were happy to be versatile and the food on the day was incredible. Plus the service and organisation from them was fantastic.
The Manytones Band. These guys were epic and got what we wanted from our playlist. They also did a 90’s dance mash up as a surprise at the end which was great.
Our Wedding Cake was from Candy’s Cupcakes who is based in Dukinfield. The cake was amazing and she was so lovely, adaptable and reasonably priced too.
Wedding Hair- Ashley Gillbody from ASH Heaton Moor. She was simply fab and worked well with me to help create what I wanted.
Wedding Make-Up- Becky from Manchester Bridal Artists. She was great. Got what I wanted from the trial, not too pricey and a pleasure to have in my house the morning of our wedding.
Kyle- you were amazing. Such a joy to have as part of our day and oh…. your photos were pretty mazing too! Couldn’t have asked for more from them or you so thank you! x
