Old Grammar School Wedding Photography

The Old Grammar School in Middleton is such a beautiful wedding venue.  It has a really cosy, warm feeling about it with so much history (well, it is over 400 years old), which is why I was so excited to shoot Verity and Mark’s wedding there back in September.  Their day began with the ceremony at New Chapel Unitarian Church, Denton before it was all aboard the school bus to the Grammar School.  It was such an awesome day, helped by the fact that Verity and Mark are such a laid back couple.  It made my job so much easier.

Here is Verity with some words about their big day:

How did you both meet?
We met in a club called Satan’s Hollow in Manchester.  Mark danced the robot to AC/DC ‘Highway To Hell’ and he won be over… God knows how, he is a terrible dancer.

What was the proposal like?
He used a Harribo ring…need I say more.  It was spontaneous though and on our holiday in Northumberland celebrating our daughters 1st birthday under the stars so there was some romance there…I might add I still don’t have an engagement ring.

How did you find wedding planning?
We planned our wedding in 17 weeks… If you have a budget stick to it. I know it’s really easy to get caught up in all the tiny details but your guests don’t care about flower arrangements or chair covers so don’t stress about the small things. We both made a list of our top 5 important things on the day and if any of them matched we made sure we prioritised it. Number 1 and 2 for us was the right venue and the right photographer the rest we didn’t care about and so we made sure we stuck to the budget on them but we’re willing to pay a bit more for photos and venue if they were right.

Why did you choose The Old Grammar School?
We wanted the wow factor with the venue but didn’t want a boring 3 course meal…found perfect venue who only did BBQ so all round winner. We also wanted a venue in Manchester and it was just the perfect venue to suit our personality. It was definitely the hit of the day.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Watching my daughter walk down the aisle.

Congratulations on your wedding Verity and Mark.  Here are some of my favourite photographs from your amazing day:
