Newton Hall Wedding Photography
The Bold, Romantic & Fantastical Newton Hall
Oh wow, I love Newton Hall. It is one of my favourite venues. I have been lucky enough to have photographed several weddings there so I was mega happy when Aphra and Dan asked me to shoot their wedding at this luxury hotel in the heart of Northumberland’s spectacular coastline. It is such a stunning wedding venue, surrounded by picturesque countryside and just a couple of minutes from the beautiful sandy beach. They specialise in unique weddings and the quirky, rambling 18th Century country house is the perfect place to tie the knot.
MORNING WEDDING PREPARATIONS
On the morning of his marriage to Aphra, I grabbed my camera and met Dan at The Joiners Arms, a gorgeous gastro pub, a short stroll from Newton Hall, where he was sipping on rum & ginger beers with his best men. The boys scrubbed up well and looked awesome in their Whitfield & Ward suits. After grabbing some natural shots, it was time to head down the road to meet Aphra and her bridesmaids who were relaxing with some champagne while getting ready in one of the beautiful rooms at Newton Hall. There were plenty of laughs as they had their hair and make-up done. Then, while Aphra put on her gorgeous wedding dress from The White Gallery, I headed out to get some more photos of Dan and the groomsmen who were busy greeting the guests who had started arriving.
Newton Hall Wedding Ceremony
As Aphra made her way down the stairs to head to the ceremony room, she was joined by her page boys and flower girl (who looked seriously cool in a tutu and Doc Martins!) who completed the wedding procession. I joined a nervous looking groom at the top of the aisle before the wedding party made their way down, followed by a very happy Aphra who was more than excited to get married. There was laughter and tears during the wedding ceremony and as the couple made their way back up the aisle afterwards, they were covered in confetti by their guests.
The drinks reception
The weather on Dan and Aphra’s big day was amazing so they decided to make the most of it by having their drinks reception outside. As their wedding guests chatted, laughed, ate canapés and enjoyed their drinks, a DJ played music from the steps of Newton Hall to keep them entertained. We managed to sneak away to the beach for a short while to get some relaxed photographs as the newlyweds walked along by the sea. Then it was back to the venue for the all important speeches.
The Speeches and evening reception
Aphra and Dan’s entrance into their reception room was a thing of beauty. They excitedly danced their way through their guests who were standing on chairs and waving their napkins in the air. The speeches were everything they should be. Emotional, funny and, in the case of the best mens’ speech, embarrassing to the groom!
After the amazing barbeque food, we made the most of the stunning light at golden hour to grab a few more shots of Aphra and Dan. Then it was time to party. An party they did! Aphra and Dan hired an amazing DJ, Sax and drums combo to make sure that the dance floor was packed after their first dance and all night long.
Thank you so much for asking me to be your Newton Hall Wedding Photographer. It was such an insane wedding and one that I am proud to have been involved in. Here are a few of my favourite images from Aphra and Dan’s big day:
