Luxury wedding venue
I have been lucky enough to photograph quite a few weddings at The Saddleworth Hotel over the years. What an amazing venue it is, overlooking the stunning Castleshaw Valley. It has a rustic country style mixed with city chic and started life as a transport cafe in 1964 and later, in the 70’s became a B&B with a bar and restaurant named the Cottage Motel. During the 1980’s the name changed again the current one, The Saddleworth Hotel and thrived as a renowned wedding venue. When the law changed to allow marriage ceremonies to take place in venues other than churches and registry offices, The Saddleworth Hotel jumped at the chance and began hosting the entire wedding day at the venue.
I love weddings at the Saddleworth Hotel. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, both inside and out. The inside has a modern, contemporary look set over two floors with a glass bridge on the upper level of the ballroom. There is the option to hold the wedding ceremony inside in the ballroom or suite, or outside under the sandstone gazebo, overlooking the gardens. The reception can be held anywhere to accommodate the size of the wedding party so that even if it is a more intimate wedding, the suite is perfect.
I have shot at The Saddleworth at many different times of the year and in every season. There are so many beautiful locations in and around the venue to get amazing images no matter the weather. I love the woodland just behind the hotel but I have also been known to head across the road with my camera to get shots in front of the beautiful sky overlooking the gorgeous countryside.
Natalie and David’s incredible Saddleworth Hotel wedding
I first met up with David on the morning of the wedding at his house where he was enjoying a whiskey with his best man. I then headed to meet Natalie, who was looking very calm with her bridesmaids, before she got into her wedding dress. David is a pilot and was planning to get a helicopter to the venue. He had asked if I would like to join him but (thankfully for me as I am terrified of heights) the plans changed.
The outdoor wedding ceremony
Natalie arrived at the venue in the amazing Rolls Royce car driven by the hotel owner, Anthony. Despite it being October, the weather was quite nice so Natalie and David tied the knot outside under the gazebo in front of their family and friends. Then, once they were married, they walked back up the aisle while their guests showered them with confetti.
Dancing the night away at the evening reception
After the wedding breakfast and speeches in the lower level of the ballroom it was time to head upstairs to party. Natalie and David had their first dance before their guest joined them to throw some shapes out on the dance floor all night long. It was such an incredible day and a massive honour that Natalie and David asked me to shoot their big day. Here are some of my favourite images from their Saddleworth Hotel Wedding Photography:
